Wet Paint: Plein Air Painting
~With Lynn Capell
Tuition: $150
Supply Fee: $0
Level: Beginners - Intermediate
"We live in an incredibly beautiful place- let's paint
it!! A fresh, step by step approach to working quickly
in oils. Students will be painting outside on prepared
wooden panels as they learn the techniques for
capturing in paint the beauty that surrounds us. We
will be painting in various locations around Kona as a
small group (great for the timid of heart!) as we
explore the "alla prima" approach (capturing the scene
in one sitting) to this style of painting.
Let's loosen up! Students will be given adequate
instruction to complete one small painting within a
three to four hour session. Demonstrations as well as
personal instruction will be given. Beginners through
advanced are welcome to share an enjoyable and
challenging painting experience."
Capell has been drawing and painting since she was
old enough to nibble on a paintbrush.
She studied art in Florida, Canada and Italy and her interest in plein air has led her to paint the lush landscapes of Brazil, Panama and Hawaii. A resident of Kona for 13 years , she has exhibited in many of the art shows around the Big Island as well as on Oahu and Maui. She has shared her passion for plein air painting in her workshops on location around Kona.
Her work can be seen in the Wishard Gallery in Waimea, the Living Arts Gallery in Hawi and on the walls of the Malolo Lounge at the HIlton Waikoloa.
